Malmö Opera - Giovanna d’Arco
Gramophone
Ania Jeruc brings an enraptured quality to the title role, the evocative innocence in her voice able to blossom into a flamboyant but finely controlled coloratura. She is uncommonly impressive when floating top notes, though more consonants would be welcome.

Musically, it was top class, as often happens in Malmö. The baritone Fredrik Zetterström, who likes to perform on this stage, is better than ever. He is worth a visit. Here he has an equal Polish soprano, Ania Jeruc, and ditto Norwegian tenor, Bror Magnus Tødenes, who delivers bel canto at the highest level.

In addition to an easy-running, balanced voice with an impressive dynamic range, a flawless technique and clarity of delivery, she has the necessary scenic presence to master her demanding part with aplomb.

Polish soprano Ania Jeruc sings the title role superbly, and she manages to give us Giovanna's strength and energy with depth, but also her spiritual development and uncertainty. She is a complex woman who has the will to win, but who also has other battles to fight besides the physical ones on the battlefield.
Theater Freiburg - Jerusalem

Ania Jeruc is a fine Giselda, floating her ‘Salve Maria’ with superb poise, yet possessing enough heft and dramatic fire to make a real impression in her big Act 2 cabaletta, of which she is mercifully permitted to sing the repeat.

The great star of the performance is Polish soprano Ania Jeruc as Giselda. This is a big role with many opportunities to expose the talent of a good lirico-spinto – and she does so with knobs on. Her first solo, the beautiful Salve Maria in the first act (CD 1 tr. 12) is sung with great feeling and beauty of tone. There is some minimal unsteadiness but this is negligible considering how well she sings. And she grows throughout the performance. Just listen to O madre, dal cielo (CD 1 tr. 25) and even better in the final act Quel prodigio (CD 2 tr. 10). This is glorious singing that should appeal to any admirer of great singing!
