Upcoming engagements include Farlaf in a new production of Ruslan and Ludmila at Staatsoper Hamburg, Tiresias in Oedipe at the Enescu Festival, Shostakovich’s Symphony No. 14 with the Orchestre Philharmonique de Radio France under Mirga Gražinytė‑Tyla, and returns to the Bayerische Staatsoper and the Gran Teatre del Liceu. Recent highlights feature Boris Timofeyevich in Lady Macbeth of Mtsensk at the Liceu; The Newspaper Clerk in The Nose and Dolokhov in War and Peace—both new productions at the Bayerische Staatsoper by Dmitri Tcherniakov and Vladimir Jurowski; Kardinal in The Maid of Orleans at the Deutsche Oper am Rhein; Surin in The Queen of Spades and soloist in Les Noces—new productions at Teatro alla Scala; Varlaam in Boris Godunov at Opernhaus Zürich; and Ramfis in Aida at Opéra Bastille and Deutsche Oper Berlin. 

A graduate of the Zurich Opera Studio and the Academy of Music, Theater and Fine Arts in Chișinău, Botnarciuc is a 3rd prize winner at the Stanisław Moniuszko International Vocal Competition.
