‍Upcoming engagements for Georgian bass Giorgi Chelidze include Zaccaria Nabucco at Polish National Opera in Warsaw, Dulcamara L’elisir d’amore and Zaccaria Nabucco at State Opera Prague, Tirésias Oedipe with Banatul Philharmonic of Timiosara and covering Gremin Eugene Onegin at The Metropolitan Opera.
Recent highlights include Bonzo Madama Butterfly with Kirill Petrenko at the Baden-Baden Festival and with the Berliner Philharmoniker, Malyuta Skuratov The Tsar’s Bride at Teatro Regio di Torino, Pimen Boris Godunov with New National Theatre Tokyo, and Le Bailli Werther at State Opera Prague. At the Tbilisi Opera and Ballet State Theatre, his roles have included the Old Hebrew Samson et Dalila, Padre Guardiano La forza del destino, and Sparafucile Rigoletto.
Earlier seasons saw him as Frère Laurent Roméo et Juliette at National Theatre Prague and Festival Immling, as well as Ramfis Aida and Zaccaria Nabucco at Festival Immling. He was also featured as Il Dottore Dulcamara L’elisir d’amore, Pietro Simon Boccanegra, Colline La bohème, and Geronte di Ravoir Manon Lescaut, all at Tbilisi State Opera. Giorgi has appeared at the Bolshoi Theatre in Moscow, Gran Teatro Falla in Cádiz, and Le Pin Galant Performing Arts Center in France.
Giorgi is a graduate of the Tbilisi State Conservatory and was a member of the Bolshoi Theatre’s Young Artists Program.
