Opéra national de Lyon – The Queen of Spades
Olyrix
Tenor Dmitry Golovnin proves in the role of Hermann that true talent also knows how to wait for maturity: he brings to the young lover a character akin to a late Onegin—tormented from the very beginning and heading toward his inevitable downfall. The character’s gradual descent into madness shows on his face with remarkable nuance, and also in increasingly incoherent (yet entirely purposeful) gestures. The voice is clear, sustained, with present low notes and soaring high notes at will, never overwhelmed by this crushing role

Dmitry Golovnin, with his strikingly clear and impulsive tenor, creates a Myshkin whose sensitivity emerges both as a strength and as a subtly portrayed self-endangering fragility
