Upcoming engagements for Georgian bass Giorgi Chelidze include Ramfis Aida at Stadttheater Klagenfurt and Zaccaria Nabucco at the State Opera Prague.

Recent highlights include Rossini’s Stabat Mater at Philharmonie Luxembourg and Verdi Requiem at Festival Immling; Zaccaria Nabucco at the Polish National Opera Warsaw, Dulcamara L’elisir d’amore and Le Bailli Werther at State Opera Prague, Tirésias Enescu’s Œdipe with the Banatul Philharmonic of Timişoara, and covering Gremin Eugene Onegin at The Metropolitan Opera. He also appeared as Bonzo in Madama Butterfly with Kirill Petrenko at the Baden-Baden Festival and with the Berliner Philharmoniker, Malyuta Skuratov The Tsar’s Bride at Teatro Regio di Torino, and Pimen Boris Godunov with New National Theatre Tokyo.

At the Tbilisi Opera and Ballet State Theatre, his roles have included the Old Hebrew Samson et Dalila, Padre Guardiano La forza del destino, Sparafucile Rigoletto, Il Dottore Dulcamara L’elisir d’amore, Pietro Simon Boccanegra, Colline La bohème, and Geronte di Ravoir Manon Lescaut. He has also appeared as Frère Laurent Roméo et Juliette at National Theatre Prague and Festival Immling, and as Ramfis Aida and Zaccaria Nabucco at Festival Immling.

Giorgi is a graduate of the Tbilisi State Conservatory and was a member of the Bolshoi Theatre’s Young Artists Program.
