Praised for her "stratospheric high notes" and "fearless, intense performance", French-Romanian soprano Gloria Tronel garnered international acclaim for her debut at the Opéra national de Paris in 2024, portraying Leticia Meynar in the French premiere of Thomas Adès’s The Exterminating Angel.
Her engagements in the 2026/27 season include Pauline La Vie parisienne at Opéra de Monte-Carlo, Leticia The Exterminating Angel at Gran Teatre del Liceu in Barcelona, and Marie La fille du régiment in a co-production of Opéra Grand Avignon, Théâtre des Champs-Élysées, Opéra de Rouen Normandie and Opéra National de Bordeaux. On the concert stage she will perform in Fauré´s Requiem at Opéra National de Bordeaux. Further seasons include debuts in leading roles at the Hamburgische Staatsoper and the Glyndebourne Festival.
Highlights in the 2025/26 season include the Requiem for My Friend at George Enescu International Festival, Ilia Idomeneo at the Royal Danish Opera, Elvira L’Italiana in Algeri in a co-production of the theatres in Reggio Emilia, Piacenza, Modena and Ravenna, Sophie Der Rosenkavalier at National Theatre Brno, and her debut at Festival d’Aix-en-Provence as Stimme des Falken/ Der Hüter der Schwelle des Tempels Die Frau ohne Schatten.
In the 2024/25 season, Gloria's engagements included a recital in Bordeaux’s Midi Musicaux series, a performance of Glière’s Concerto for Coloratura Soprano with Orchestre Colonne at Salle Gaveau, a return to Bolzano with the Haydn Foundation for Bruno Maderna’s Satyricon and a performance of Fauré’s Requiem with the Fondazione Teatri di Piacenza. Additionally, she recorded Richard Harvey’s Céline for the BBC and has participated in the world premiere of Michel Petrossian’s new opera Job, le procès de Dieu at La Cité Bleue in Geneva.
A graduate of the Royal Danish Opera Young Artist Program, she holds a master’s degree from the Royal Conservatory of Antwerp and has studied at the European Opera Academy in Florence, as well as the National University of Music in Bucharest. She has been recognized with numerous international awards, including the First Great Award at the Manhattan International Music Competition and the Éloge Award for Singer of the Year from the Théâtre du Châtelet in 2024.
