In the 2025/26 season, Armenian baritone Grisha Martirosyan makes his role debut as Figaro Il barbiere di Siviglia at Calgary Opera, Canada and in a new production at the Theater Bonn.
A graduate of the Jette Parker Artists Programme at The Royal Ballet and Opera (Covent Garden), Grisha appeared during his tenure as Morales Carmen, Angelotti Tosca, Marullo Rigoletto, Barone Douphol La traviata, and Schlémil Les Contes d’Hoffmann.
Highlights of recent seasons include his participation in the Young Singers Project at the Salzburger Festspiele in summer 2023, where he performed in a new production of Verdi’s Macbeth under the baton of Philippe Jordan, and engagements with the Mascarade Emerging Artists Programme in Florence, with performances at Teatro La Fenice di Venezia.
Earlier stage roles include the title role in Eugene Onegin, Malatesta Don Pasquale, Belcore L’elisir d’amore, and Henry Ashton Lucia di Lammermoor at the Yerevan Opera Studio.
Grisha is a graduate of the Yerevan State Conservatory (Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees) and completed an Erasmus exchange at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland. He is a recipient of First Prize at the 10th Veronica Dunne International Singing Competition, Second Prize at the 14th Magda Olivero International Singing Competition, and a laureate of the Belvedere Singing Competition 2023.
