Grand-Théâtre de Saint-Étienne -
Cavalleria Rusticana
Tadeusz Szlenkier sings Canio with impressive vocal power (...) his Canio is fiery and intense, reflecting all the rage and pain of the character - Scherzo
Grand-Théâtre de Saint-Étienne -
Cavalleria Rusticana
Particularly outstanding was Polish tenor Tadeusz Szlenkier, the true revelation of the evening and its expressive pillar. His achievement is all the more impressive as he takes on in each opera the strongest and most unsettling role (Turiddu / Canio), each with the most dramatically demanding aria. An actor of striking truth, he combines remarkable stamina with vocal power and a rock-solid technique - today singing all the great Verdi and Puccini heroes, as well as Strauss’s Emperor in Die Frau ohne Schatten. Szlenkier avoids excess and pathos, offering instead a measured, fully embodied verismo with a natural sense of text. Convincing in both balance and intensity, he delivers soaring, effortless high notes with dramatic presence and striking sobriety - his qualities are nothing short of superlative - Classique News

Staatstheater Nürnberg - Die Frau ohne Schatten
Bachtrack
