‍Chinese baritone Xiaomeng Zhang continues to expand his presence on the international opera stage.
In the 2025/26 season, Xiaomeng makes his Royal Opera House debut as Ping Turandot, returns to the Opéra Bastille in Paris as Schaunard La bohème and as Chou En-Lai Nixon in China, Dr Falke Die Fledermaus at the National Centre for the Performing Arts, Beijing.

A former member of the Opernhaus Zürich Opera Studio, Zhang is a regular guest at the theatre performing Ping in Sebastian Baumgarten’s production of Turandot under Marc Albrecht, following his debuts there as Guglielmo Così fan tutte conducted by Riccardo Minasi, Silvio Pagliacci under Paolo Carignani, and Donner Das Rheingold under Gianandrea Noseda in Andreas Homoki’s new Ring Cycle.

‍His repertoire highlights include roles like Belcore L’elisir d’amore, Schaunard La bohème, title roles in Don Giovanni and Il Barbiere di Siviglia, and Conte Almaviva Le nozze di Figaro, the latter was praised as “a miracle of vocal focus and controlled fury”.

A native of Wenzhou, Zhang studied at the Shanghai Conservatory of Music and the Manhattan School of Music, before completing the Artist Diploma at the Juilliard School, where he appeared in productions including Don Giovanni, Katya Kabanova, La Calisto, and Les mamelles de Tirésias.
