Agnieszka Rehlis returns to Arena di Verona as Amneris
This week, mezzo-soprano Agnieszka Rehlis returns to the Arena di Verona to open the 2025 season as Amneris in Verdi’s Aida, with the premiere performance taking place on June 21.

A role she has made distinctly her own, Rehlis’s Amneris has been described as “magnetic and vocally fearless” (Opera Magazine), praised for its commanding stage presence and emotional complexity. She has previously sung the part to acclaim at the Royal Opera and Ballet in London, Teatro di San Carlo in Naples, Opera Australia and across leading European theatres.

This return to Verona comes amid a particularly exciting period in Rehlis’s career. In recent months, she has appeared as Azucena in Il trovatore at both the Royal Opera House and the Berlin Staatsoper, earning recognition for the dramatic intensity and rich vocal color that continue to define her Verdi interpretations.

The Arena’s new Aida production, directed by Stefano Poda and conducted by Daniel Oren, promises to be a visual and musical centerpiece of the summer.
