Aigul Akhmetshina returns to one of her signature roles and most celebrated stages this summer, performing the title role in Carmen at the Bayerische Staatsoper from 13th June. Widely acclaimed for her interpretation of Bizet’s heroine, Akhmetshina has captivated audiences at many of the world’s leading opera houses, with critics describing her Carmen as “magnetic” and praising a voice that combines “silken lightness” with “leathery depth.” Conducted by Karel Mark Chichon and Francesco Ivan Ciampa, performances run through 12th July, with Akhmetshina set to reprise the role in Munich in July 2027.

The production marks the beginning of a major summer season for Akhmetshina. From 17th July, she appears as Adalgisa in Norma in Munich, before returning to Carmen for a concert performance at the Tiroler Festspiele Erl on 25th July.
