Ólafur Sigurdarson sings the role of Alberich in Siegfried at the National Centre for the Performing Arts (NCPA) in Beijing as part of its landmark presentation of the Ring cycle marking 150 years of Wagner’s epic. Lawrence Dale’s production opens on 28th April, featuring music direction by Marcus Bosch. Performances continue on 30th April and 2nd and 4th May.

Renowned as “the best Alberich in the world,” Sigurdarson recently performed the role at Teatro alla Scala during its own Ring cycle presentation. During the 2023 Bayreuther Festspiele, he was praised for his “vocally dynamic and expressive” portrayal, which constituted “the evening’s greatest triumph.”
