Victoria Karkacheva makes her house and role debut at the Metropolitan Opera this autumn, singing Neris in Cherubini's Medea from 30th October. The production, directed by David McVicar and conducted by Carlo Rizzi, runs through 21st November.
Karkacheva arrives at the Met at an exciting moment in her career, recently named a Bachtrack Rising Star following a tremendous 2025/26 season which featured her acclaimed role debut as Carmen at the Wiener Staatsoper. Her voice has been praised as "endowed with a majestic, wide-ranging vocal range" (Première Loge), while on stage she has been hailed as "very convincing, both for her stage presence and for the instrument she displayed" (Platea Magazine).
Her 2026/27 season reflects a career in the ascendant. She sings Jocasta in Oedipus Rex with the Orquestra Gulbenkian in Lisbon, Sonyetka in Lady Macbeth of Mtsensk at the Opéra national de Paris and Hanna in May Night at the Opéra national de Lyon, and she returns to Munich for Polina in The Queen of Spades at the Bayerische Staatsoper.
