Vladislav Sulimsky sings Baron Scarpia in Glyndebourne’s first-ever staging of Tosca, opening on 21st May. Directed by Ted Huffman, this landmark production brings Puccini’s thriller to the Glyndebourne alongside conductor Robin Ticciati and the London Philharmonic Orchestra. Sulimsky performs the role until 22nd June.
Fresh from a highly successful run in another of Puccini’s great baritone roles, Sulimsky recently appeared as the title role in Nabucco at the Bayerische Staatsoper, where his acclaimed voice was praised for its “weight and stature” and a stage presence marked by “powerful portrayals… full of vocal expressiveness.”
