Georgian bass Goderdzi Janelidze, hailed in the press for his “imposing timbre and steely dramatic intensity of his Oroveso anchored the entire evening”, makes a series of debuts next season, including at Teatro alla Scala in Lady Macbeth of Mtsensk, at Deutsche Oper am Rhein as Zaccharia Nabucco.
Recent performances include a return to Opéra National de Bordeaux as Oroveso Norma, also Sparafucile Rigoletto, which has been performed to great acclaim at the Royal Ballet and Opera, Opéra national de Paris, Teatro Regio di Torino, the Bregenzer Festspiele, Teatro Colón in Buenos Aires, and with the Canadian Opera Company.
Other notable appearances include Un vieillard hébreu Samson et Dalila at The Royal Ballet and Opera, Colline La bohème at both the Gran Teatre del Liceu and Opéra National de Bordeaux, Philippe II Don Carlos at the Royal Danish Opera, King René Iolanta with the Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra, The King’s Herald Lohengrin at the Bolshoi Theatre Moscow, and Vodník Rusalka with the Flemish Opera.
He has also been heard as Bartolo Le nozze di Figaro at the Bolshoi Theatre Moscow, Don Quichotte at the Wexford Festival Opera, Tom Un ballo in maschera at Teatro Real Madrid, Prince Gremin Eugene Onegin at Vancouver Opera, Konchak Prince Igor, and Créon Médée at the Al Bustan Festival.
