This Sunday is the premiere of Shostakovich's Lady Macbeth of Mtsensk at the Teatro alla Scala, which features three MK Impresari artists: Laura Lolita Perešivana, Ekaterina Sannikova, and, making their role and house debut, Goderdzi Janelidze. Ekaterina portrays Aksin’ja, Laura the Female Convict, and Goderdzi the Old Convict. MK Impresari is very proud to have three artists on this traditional, legendary opening of the season at Teatro alla Scala.
In this 50th anniversary year of the composer's death, La Scala opens a brand new production by Vasily Barkhatov, conducted by Riccardo Chailly. It will be a Live broadcast on Rai 1 and RaiPlay from 5:45 pm on opening night, the 7th December. Presented in its original 1934 version, which led to the composer and opera being blacklisted under Stalin, Barkhatov makes his directorial debut at La Scala with a production that is sure to form a highly significant part of the theatre's season.
