David Leigh debuts at the Lyric Opera of Chicago as Commendatore in Don Giovanni

David Leigh makes his house debut at the Lyric Opera of Chicago to sing the Commendatore in Don Giovanni, opening 10th October at the Lyric Opera House. The production, directed by Robert Falls, is conducted by the company's Music Director Enrique Mazzola. Leigh sings the role on 10th, 13th, 15th, 18th, 21st, 24th and 30th October, and 1st November.

‍

Leigh has performed the Commendatore to great acclaim at the Festival d'Aix-en-Provence Canadian Opera Company, and Opernhaus Zürich, where his voice was praised as a “beautiful, voluminous and sonorous bass;” his dramatic presence in the role is no less celebrated, highlighting his "massive, dark-hued sound [which] commanded attention” (Parterre).

‍

Leigh’s season ahead is one of familiar stages and career debuts, from singing Fafner in Opernhaus Zürich's Der Ring des Nibelungen, which will tour to the Philharmonie de Paris and Carnegie Hall under Gianandrea Noseda, and his BBC Proms debut, before he creates the role of the Baron in the world premiere of The Dreamers at the Festival d'Aix-en-Provence.
