Tonight, Derek Welton returns to the Opéra national de Paris as Der Wanderer in Siegfried. Derek was acclaimed for his recent portrayals of Der Wanderer and Wotan at the Kölner Philharmonie, Philharmonie de Paris and the Deutsche Oper Berlin. Derek continues his significant rise to prominence as one of the world's leading Wotans.

Derek joins the Calixto Bieito production under the baton of Pablo Heras-Casado, almost a year after he jumped in in Paris for an indisposed colleague to sing Wotan in the first of Bieito's new production of the Cycle: Das Rheingold. Derek returns now in its third instalment to yet again take over the role of Wagner's God king.
