Elmina Hasan debuts as Carmen at Wiener Staatsoper

Elmina Hasan makes both her house and role debut in the title role of Carmen at the Wiener Staatsoper, opening on 1st June. Opposite Freddie De Tommaso’s Don José, the production is conducted by Asher Fisch, with further performances on 5th, 8th, and 11th June.

This marks another major moment in an important season for Hasan, who recently earned widespread acclaim for her portrayal of Charlotte in Werther at the Gran Teatre del Liceu, another notable house debut. Critics praised her “remarkable stage presence and dynamism, which gave her character special prominence,” while highlighting her “strong performance in her major scene in the third act, singing with expressiveness and elegance” (Platea Magazine).

Hasan will return to Vienna next season to perform Adalgisa in Norma, opening on 22nd February.
