This Saturday, Long Long makes his house debut at Florence’s Teatro del Maggio Musicale Fiorentino, stepping into one of his signature roles just in time for Christmas — Rodolfo in Puccini’s beloved La bohème. The tenor has performed this part to great acclaim around the world, including at the Glyndebourne Festival, and later this season, he will reprise the impoverished poet for his Metropolitan Opera debut.
Under the baton of Diego Ceretta and the direction of Bruno Ravella, this revival of the company’s 2017 hit transforms Florence’s historic streets into the festive boulevards of Paris. Audiences can expect a true holiday gift in Long’s performance, hailed during his Santa Fe debut as possessing “a lyric voice with spinto power, perfectly suited for the role of Rodolfo” (Opera Warhorses).
