British tenor Samuel Stopford has been awarded First Prize at the 12th International Stanisław Moniuszko Vocal Competition, held this June at the Polish National Opera in Warsaw. The competition is one of Eastern Europe’s most prestigious vocal platforms, attracting top emerging talent from around the world.
Stopford impressed both the jury and audience with his expressive musicality, vocal clarity, and poised stage presence. In addition to the top prize, he also received the Maria Fołtyn Prize for the best performance of a Moniuszko aria.
A graduate of the Royal Academy of Music, Stopford has already gained attention for his recital debut at Wigmore Hall and is a member of Bayerische Staatsoper Young Artists Programme.
