Mussorgsky comes to South East France on the evening of the 13th October, as his Boris Godunov premieres at Opéra de Lyon.
In this new co-production with the Royal Theatre of La Monnaie in Brussels, Abu Dhabi Festival and the Staatsoper Hannover, two MK Impresari artists make their house debuts. Maxim Kuzmin-Karavaev sings Pimen, the chronicler-hermit, and David Leigh sings Varlaam, the vagabond. David returns to this role, which he sang recently with the Washington National Opera. Maxim Kuzmin-Karavaev returns to Pimen, which he sang with acclaim at the Bayerische Staatsoper.
The production runs till the 25th October, and involves the debuts of two internationally-renowned creatives: the Belarusian conductor Vitali Alekseenok leads the Lyon Opera Orchestra, and the new production is helmed by the Russian director Vasily Barkhatov.
